ART MEETS THE WORKBENCH

Your pictures.
3D-printed.

Turn an image into something you can hold. Stratinta builds a layered filament painting from your picture and the colors you have.

A few filaments. A whole picture.

01 / FROM PIXELS TO SOMETHING REAL

A picture is the starting point.
Your printer does the rest.

Stratinta works out how to build color through layers of filament. You bring the image, the spools, and a little curiosity.

01 / THE PICTURE

Start with an image.

A photograph, an illustration, a piece you made yourself. Choose the picture and the print size.

02 / THE PALETTE

Use the colors you have.

The automatic search builds a stack from your loaded filaments. No picking individual image colors or writing a layer recipe.

03 / THE PRINT

Make it tangible.

Inspect the estimated appearance and the actual relief. Export the project, check it in your slicer, and match the spools before printing.

02 / A CLOSER LOOK

See what a picture
is made of.

This example went through the actual Stratinta generator. Explore the image, its estimated appearance, and the exported geometry.

Estimated appearance of the Moonrise filament painting

Estimated appearance from the generated filament stack. This is a digital prediction, not a photograph of a print.

The 3D viewer uses exported vertices and triangles, with estimated stack colors and illustrative lighting. Depth starts at actual thickness. “Depth ×6” exaggerates only the relief above the backing.

Look closer.
Eyes. Feathers. Layers.

Our monochrome owl study puts fine detail under the spotlight. Compare its source and estimated result, rotate the actual exported surface, and download the P2S project.

03 / COLOR THROUGH THICKNESS

A small palette.
A lot of possibility.

A printed painting doesn’t need a separate spool for every shade. Underlying layers influence what you see on the surface.

Stratinta searches the available colors and their order, including repeated bands when they improve the predicted image. The goal is detail and appearance.

Get the P2S sample
  1. 01

    Open as a project.

Open the 3MF in Bambu Studio using “Open as project” to retain the included P2S settings and layer changes.

  2. 02

    Slice, then inspect.

Choose “Slice plate.” In Preview, select Filament and move through the layers to see how the picture is built.

  3. 03

    Match your loaded spools.

Confirm black and white against your AMS slots. Check the plate and settings before sending the job from your slicer.

BETA / WHAT WE'RE WORKING TOWARD

Better with every layer.

Stratinta is in Beta. These are our next priorities, guided by slicer checks and real print comparisons. They are planned improvements, with no fixed release dates.

PLANNED / 01

Smarter print optimization.

Balance detail, print time, and material use. Preserve small features while making the painting more practical to print.

PLANNED / 02

More color possibilities.

Improve stack selection and filament calibration for more spool combinations, more reliable shades, and richer color.

PLANNED / 03

Smoother surfaces.

Reduce abrupt ridges and stray peaks while retaining the eyes, feathers, and edges that give a picture its character.

PLANNED / 04

More considered depth.

Improve subject separation and relief transitions while accounting for how height changes the printed color.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Good questions.

Is this a full 3D model of my photograph?

Stratinta creates a shallow, solid relief for filament painting. Height controls the layers of color in each region. It does not reconstruct the anatomical or physical depth of the subject.

Do I need to pick colors in the image?

The automatic workflow works from your image and available filaments. It chooses a global color stack without asking you to pick regions or write a layer recipe.

Will it look exactly like the preview?

The appearance is an estimate based on filament layer optics. Your spool, material, printer, and lighting affect the physical result. These examples have not been physically print-validated.

Which printer is the example prepared for?

The downloadable sample is configured for a Bambu Lab P2S with a 0.4 mm nozzle, PLA, and a Textured PEI plate. It includes layer-based filament changes. Verify your loaded spools and slicer settings before printing.

Can I create my own painting here?

Yes. Open the studio, upload an image, confirm your filaments and generate a P2S project. Images can be up to 16 MiB and 8 megapixels; hosted paintings support a longest edge up to 180 mm. Files belong to your private browser session and expire after 24 hours of inactivity. Download your results to keep them.
